The Basic Research Division (BRD) is the key project for IHS Phase I development. In early 2002, the BRD building was renovated into a state-of-the-art laboratory facility with core laboratory equipment, which provides a base for conducting biomedical research. At this time, BRD includes 18 research laboratories headed by Principal Investigators (PIs). All PIs have doctoral degrees and received postdoctoral training. Moreover, all have extensive research experience in European countries, USA and Japan, and excellent track records in publication and scientific productivity. A good percentage of the PIs had been in charge of major research projects abroad.
